Google has an enormous range of handy tools for you to use as a way of helping with your SEO and Traffic generation. All of these tools will help you with your SEO.
Google Webmaster Tools - search Google for Webmaster Tools
Google Webmaster Tools can give you some very technical information and provides you with detailed reports about your web pages’ visibility on Google. You can see what Google thinks about your pages, you can find out the Top Search Terms being used by your visitors and you can check the amount of inbound links/outbound links etc. You can also submit your site map to Google via Webmaster Tools which will ensure that Google knows about all of your pages. To get Webmaster Tools to work you need to install a small code into your site.
There are also a few other technical bits which you may find interesting.

Website Optimizer is a tool that can help you improve the effectiveness of your website or web pages. By allowing you to Split Test different versions of your website content, you can determine what content best attracts users to lead them to convert on your site.
Example: You have a Name Squeeze Page where you are offering a Free Report in exchange for your visitors Name and Email Address. Using website optimizer you would test two slightly different versions of that Name Squeeze Page to see which one converts best.
First you need to increase your Traffic, then you need to split test to increase your conversion rate.
If you put all your efforts into SEO and none of your efforts into Split Testing some of your SEO efforts will be wasted.
Again you will need to get your website designer to insert a code into your web pages in order to get website optimizer to work. The key to all successful marketing and online marketing is testing and measuring. It is essential to get the most from your marketing campaigns, and without the numbers how are you going to know what’s working and what’s not.
Google Maps- search Google for Google Maps
By getting your website listed for free in the Local Business Results it can really help you to get traffic to your site.
The Google Map Listings often appear above the rest of the free listings on the left of the Google Page.
You can add all your business details to Google Maps via your Google Account including opening times, photos, videos etc. To activate your Google Maps listing you will need to provide a telephone number or postal address and wait for a verification call or postcard.

Sharing SEO Secrets to Gain More Web Traffic – My Blog Launch Formula
This is my blog launch formula. It is an absolute beauty. Follow this strategy and you are GUARANTEED to successfully launch ANY blog in ANY niche. I won’t make any wild claims about the number of visitors you will receive, nor the number of pages you will have indexed in Google, nor the number of mentions you will have in Google, suffice to say, you will be delighted with the return on time and effort invested.
You will have noticed that blogs and blogging play a big part in the 7 Sexy SEO Secrets. In fact, that is the 7th and in my opinion, the sexiest seo secret of them all; BLOG.
Here’s the launch formula that I personally use when I’m serious about a blog. You can trim accordingly for less important blogs, but trimmer beware, who knows where the secret sauce lies?
Task + How Long?
1. Keyword Research and Domain Purchase 1 hour
2. Install WordPress blog 30 mins
3. Install 2 tag plug ins, change the permalinks to /%category%/%postname%/, insert ping list, insert header. 30 mins
4. Create my Feedburner feed and submit RSS feeds once posts have been completed. Also add my Buzzboost to display in sidebar 30 mins
5. Insert sign up form using Aweber 30 mins
6. Install Google Analytics and submit Google Sitemap 20 mins
7. Set up RSS Bookmarker to take care of my social bookmarking. Could also use AutoSocialPoster 30 mins
8. Claim blog at Technorati. Also submit to Entrecard (worth buying a few ads) and BlogCatalog. 30 mins
9. Write 5 unique articles and post on blog. Submit same articles to Ezine + Article Marketer 3 hours
10. Install WP-O-Matic to publish RSS feed 30 mins
11. Start a low budget PPC campaign on Yahoo, MSN or Google for selected keywords. 2 hours
12. Create a video and post to video distribution sites. Also post video on my site. Also bookmark video by adding video RSS Feed to RSS Bookmarker. 2 hours
13. Link to blog from 4 of my other blogs, including 2 of my blogger blogs. Add FAQ, privacy and contact pages to my site. 1 hour
14. Add my site to links network. Submit RSS Feeds. 10 mins
15. Completely rewrite 25 PLR articles and set them up for sporadic posting over the next month or so. Submit those too. 8 hours
16. Submit site to directories using a directory submission service 30 mins
17. Write and submit a press release 1 hour
18. Write and submit various classified ads 2 hours
19. (Potential to buy links but Google may frown on this practice. Buyer beware!) 1 hour
20. Forum posting (genuine, not Spam), include Warrior Forum Special Offer 5 hours
21. Install ad tracking codes on certain campaigns to measure return on time/money invested 1 hour
22. Rifle shot approach to top listings in Google and other target sites, contacting each site individually and exploring advertising/joint venture opportunities. 5 hours
TOTAL, give or take 40 hours
* Please note that it takes about 5 minutes per account to register for each social bookmarking sites. So, if you don’t have any accounts set up as yet, please allow yourself around 3 hours to set up 30 odd accounts.
So, there you have it. Appreciate it that this might be a bit overkill for some blogs but thought it might cut out a lot of guesswork for others.

Search Engine Optimisation With a Content Management System
There are many low cost and free content management systems (CMS’s). You can also commission the building of your own if you have the money. Whichever path you choose your first task is to ensure the website conforms to the accepted industry standards in terms of its construction. Good code is a good plan and it’s just as easy to do it right as it is to do it wrong. The same goes for SEO. You should ensure for example:
- Each page allows for Search Engine Friendly (human readable) URL’s. You should be able to manipulate these.
- Each page has a unique title tag. Again you need to be able to manipulate these on a per page basis. Keywords in title tags are VERY useful.
- Each page allows for a unique meta description tag. For the most part Google uses the meta description tag for the text snippet it displays in the search engine results page or SERP.
- Each page allows for unique meta keywords. Although considered redundant it’s better to be safe than sorry with meta keywords
- The content management system (CMS) should allow for the easy addition of site wide code to aid the use of website analytics software a VITAL tool in the SEO process
- The CMS should automatically update its site map and create an XML feed to ensure Google is informed immediately of any site additions. Doing this manually is NOT recommended.
- The CMS should as far as possible use clean CSS based design to reduce the ratio of content to HTML on each page. This makes it easier for the search engine robots to establish the subject matter within a page
- The CMS should promote and assist the use of correct on-page HTML tagging, such as H1 for the most important headings. Again this helps the search engine robots correctly index a page
- The CMS should ensure canonical issues are considered and dealt with. In simple terms each page should as far as possible have only ONE version.
All of the above, and more, play their part in the way a website performs in the search engines. Ensuring your system ticks these boxes is vital. Getting this bit wrong will prove expensive.
So many CMS systems make life difficult for their users. The last thing you want to do is spend money on a site only to discover the search engines can’t make any sense of it.
