How to Use Micro Blogging and Expand Your Business

In this industrious world of hectic work schedules and unfathomable chores, making out enough time for one’s own recreation or self-indulgence is gradually becoming obsolete and faded. Blogs can be quite enriching for every individual, nourishing their creative instincts into an enterprising feature. However, due to the lack of enough time and energy blogging may take a backseat in the process. With the latest and trendsetting micro blogging, the story, however, takes a different turn altogether.

What is micro blogging?

Micro blogging is the latest in the block. An innovative way of blogging, this type refers to short written texts of about 140 words that is published online and viewed by all or to a restricted few. Most uniquely, the brief blogs, in the form of messages, can be imparted even through a number of means such as instant messaging, email, text messaging, MP3 and of course on the web.

What do you write about?

Most often people are found wondering and completely bewildered as to what to write for the blog posts. Something as simple as blogs on “eating stuffs” and “boarding a cab” can also catch the attention of a good readership. The crux of the entire thing, however, lies on effective communication and networking. It’s all about that – to reach out to the world outside one’s own domain.

How do you write a micro blog?

Micro blogging is the generation-next trend of online communication and networking. Simplicity is the rule of the day. It is the small and simple that calls for the ultimate attention. Nobody has enough time these days to sit before the machines writing pages after pages on a topic. Simplification is what that calls for the maximum attention. One of the common social networking sites, Twitter, allows members to type in less than 140 characters to communicate with others in the network. It’s more to do with effective communication and networking rather than writing a thesis of an article.

How does micro blogs help in expanding your business?

In fact, the business world, today, is also harnessing on the latest technology of micro blogging. Rather than advertising with the general ‘buy our stuff’ tone, tycoons and companies are seeking the micro blogging way to best suit the client-based interaction. This can be done in a number of effective and useful ways. For example, with this particular technique, the companies can keep in touch with their clients, informing them with the constant developments. In this way, the companies can also declare discounts and offers to the blog readers across the web. At times, customers may prefer to talk to any particular staff of their choice. Micro blogging makes the job easier to know whether the staff is available online or not get a more honest feedback Besides these, there are many other applications of the very concept of the ultra micro blogging that is already taking the business and social world by storm.

Social Networking For Consultants – Use Twitter Hashtags to Add Value & Accountability to Your Tweet

Hashtags can help add value to your brand and expand your visibility quickly.

On Twitter, hashtags are fun little tools for tracking topics, conversations, communities and live events. One popular (almost old) hashtag is #followfriday.  This is where people recommend other people that you should follow.  So they’d list the twitter id of a person and include the hashtag at the end of the post. For instance, if someone was recommending me, they would tweet my user id plus #followfriday (and maybe they’d include a note saying, “follow her, she’s great”).

Personally, I don’t go looking for hashtags. They are usually already attached to a conversation that I want to add to. However, here are a few hashtag resources:

  • #hashtags.org is the first place to find most recent and hot hashtags with popularity trends.
  • Twemes.com is another useful resource for discovering and tracking new hashtags. It has a hashtag cloud.
  • Wthashtag.com is a user generated wiki of hashtags. If you don’t know what any hashtag means or how to use it, you can use the site search and get a well-compiled entry explaining the meaning of the hashtag

Coaches, consultants and community leaders use hashtags to connect others to their niche, topic, club or challenge.  Talk about unleashing a viral effect around a topic– it does!  If the topic is something I’m interested in, I just jump right in.

As a coach/consultant, you make it easy for your followers and club members to converse with each other and hold each other accountable. For example,Jeff Herring created a challenge called 100articles100days.  He  set up the hashtag #HAHD to make it easy for participants to hold each other accountable, encourage each other and follow the conversation.  Within two weeks, the club had drawn close to 800 members as a result of the buzz created using a simple hashtag.

Twitter For Business Networking

We often successfully use social networking sites and blogs to maintain contact with our family and friends, but they are also great methods of communicating with customers. Social websites that host mini-blogs, such as Twitter, provide special ways to promote your company. Following are some tips for improving sales with Twitter.

1. Combine your personal lifestyle with your professional lifestyle. With Twitter, you can post little personal tidbits or business details on a blog (140 individuals letters or digits per instance). Therefore, these small comments need to contain a lot of interesting words to keep your consumers interested enough to look at your blog again. Your Twitter blog should include some personal information and events, to keep readers entertained. So it is ok for the blog to focus on your selling, but pop in a bit as regards to Timmy’s ballgame and partner’s favourite take-out. You could post a fantastic discount code or link a photo of your cute puppy with your Twitter blog. Letting your clients have a peek into your personal life can create friendships from business relationships. If you want to promote your business, you’d have more chances if you let people know about your personal life.

2. You may want to link your Twitter blog up to your business webpage. Good marketing includes thinking of ways to get more traffic to your website. Think about linking your Twitter page to it. Landing a customer on your doorstep might very well be a result of one of your ‘tweets’.

3. Publicize your Twitter and you’ll get more traffic. There are many other ways that you can utilize your Twitter blog to market your new business, these all rely on increasing the traffic to your blog. You should be sure to link your Twitter blog not only to your own website, but to several other sites as well. Put a link to your Twitter account on internet business directories so people that are looking for your type of business will find it. Post yourself on other companies’ newsletters as well. Maybe you should include the link on the next pamphlet you post throughout your community. The best way to have many visitors to your Twitter blog is to put the link in all the places you think it might attract people.

4. Your Twitter account should be updated regularly. It’s not uncommon for individuals to enjoy reading about what is going on in other’s lives. If you want people to come back to your Twitter blog, you need to continuously introduce all the new information you may have. Go online a minimum of every second day, even if just for a matter of minutes. Whatever your posts cover–new business offers or your children’s academic success, your customers will want to know what you’re saying now. That is an example of one good way to market your business.
